Discussion:
Transversal Intersection Symbol
(too old to reply)

I have recently encountered the problem of creating the standard notation
for transversal intersection (unicode U02ADB) which looks like a \cap with a
\mid through it. Is there any token for this symbol in TeX? If not, how
would I glue together a \cap and a \mid so as to reproduce it.

Thanks,

There does not seem to be a ready-made glyph for it in either LaTeX or
AMS-TeX. You have to find some way to glue \cap and \mid together. Sorry
I couldn't be of more help.

Excellent! Thank you, how did you find this? I knew it must have been
included somewhere but no sites include it in the common set of symbols.
Anyway, again, thanks.

AFAIK TeXnicCenter is ("nothing more" than) a TeX/LaTeX IDE: never
tried it but heard very good cmts about it...

But you can also use those in mails.

True, my apologies. If you are ever forced to use MS Windows (yuk) and
TeX (also yuk) I'd recommend it. While there are alternatives to MS
Windows, there don't seem to be any serious ones to TeX--or are there?

I agree, but not fanatically, as you can see by my headers.

I do *not* agree, period!

Not really, depending on one's aim (I'm told that *roffs are far from
being dead and buried, as some naively think!). But who cares? "also
yuk" is not a thing of mine...

(i) Have you checked "The Comprehensive LATEX Symbol List"?[*]
(ii) You'd better ask this on comp.text.tex

[*]BTW: the answer is there, IMHO. More precisely I can see a symbol
that very much resembles your description. Hint: it's in "Table 41:
AMS Binary Relations"...
